LESSONS
Group Lessons are hugely beneficial for all musicians. Take the tools and skills you learn in your private lessons, and use them to help learn how to play in a group setting with other like-minded musicians! All ensembles and group lessons are set up so students are matched with each other by similar age, ability and musical interests. Take your playing and musicianship to the next level by trying out a group lesson!
J R. V I R T U O S O S
Junior Virtuosos is the premier group class for your child to get a great introduction to all things music! Classes are designed to get children making music with others all while learning about the foundations of music. Students will learn how to sing and use their voices in a healthy way, acquire basic piano skills, get introduced to reading music notation, and so much more! Junior Virtuosos is a great way for younger students to creatively explore music, while older students can take on leadership opportunities and learn something new along the way. Junior Virtuosos is scheduled for 12-week sessions and concludes with an exciting short performance for friends and family on the final day of class!
Ages 6-8
12 Week Session:

FUTURE ROCKSTARS
If you have a young child at home who keeps tapping on the table, clapping along to music, or banging on the pots and pans, then Future Rock Stars is for them! Come kick off the school year at JSMS as your aspiring young drummer learns the basics of rhythm, movement, reading music notation and most of all, drumming! Your new drummer will spend time keeping a beat to different types of songs, and playing music both individually and with a group. Each session will culminate with an exciting short performance for friends and family on the last day of class.
Ages 6-8
12 Week Session:

PRESCHOOL PERCUSSION
If you have a young child at home who keeps tapping on the table, clapping along to music, or banging on the pots and pans, then Preschool Percussion is for them! Your aspiring young musician will learn the basics of rhythm, movement, reading music notation and most of all, drumming! Students will spend time keeping a beat to different types of songs, and playing music both individually and with a group. The final session will culminate with an exciting short “informance” for friends and family!
Ages 3-5
8 Week Session:

MUSICAL THEATRE INTENSIVE
Join our Musical Theatre Intensive, where aspiring performers engage in weekly sessions to hone their singing, acting, and dancing skills to meet professional standards. Students will delve into script analysis, vocal techniques, audition strategies, and the history of musical theatre. Led by JSMS faculty member Meghan Ryan, classes on Monday evenings starting in the Fall will cater to each student’s unique learning methods and skill level. This class will prepare every student to excel in any competitive theatrical space, by finding their strengths, improving their weaknesses, and gaining their confidence in any performance environment – whether it be in an audition room or in the spotlight on stage! Our Fall session of Musical Theatre Intensive will culminate with a class performance at our Holiday Recital on Saturday, December 14th at 12PM at the Inly Artsbarn in Scituate!

PERCUSSION
ENSEMBLE
Percussion Ensemble at JSMS is the South Shore’s premier spot for musicians that want to dive deeper into the world of percussion. With weekly rehearsals, students will get to play and perform unique and exciting repertoire written specifically for percussion. Students will learn how to play as individuals and together as a group, and will likely get the chance to play percussion instruments they may not have played before. Groups can start as small as trios and can be as big as seven members!

JAZZ
COMBO
Venture into the world of Jazz by being part of a Jazz Combo at JSMS. Students will learn how to play as a group, play jazz standards, have regular weekly rehearsals, study and experiment with improvisation, and so much more. Whether you are a beginner or have been playing for a while, students will be coached by a JSMS faculty member who will guide them into playing as a collective group. All skills learned in a JSMS Jazz Combo can also be brought into the student’s school jazz bands.
ROCKBAND PROGRAM
Rock Band at JSMS is the premier spot on the South Shore for young musicians that want to play music with other like-minded musicians. Start a band that has dedicated weekly rehearsals with one of our Rock Band coaches, learn cover songs, write your own music, how to promote your band and music, book shows, and play live gigs! Students are matched based on age, skill-level, and musical interests, all in an effort to make sure that potential band members are the best fit possible for each other.
